Regulations are being developed by Health Canada to support the Act. Section 8 Regulations on Consent are the first set of regulations to be approved.

Section 8 (Consent to Use)

Regulations for Section 8 (Consent to Use) of the Assisted Human Reproduction Act came into force on December 1, 2007. The regulations were published in the June 27, 2007, edition of Canada Gazette, Part II. The purpose of section 8 is to require that donations of human reproductive material (sperm and eggs) for creating embryos and in vitro embryos are used only according to the donor's written consent.
